Bio Diesel / Renewables
Supreme Oil Company coordinates the supply and distribution of biodiesel in California and Arizona. Supreme Oil has physical product storage in both Phoenix and Long Beach, as well as agreements with several terminaling companies within its marketing territory.
Biodiesel was developed by Dr. Rudolph Diesel in 1895. Biodiesel, a wholly homegrown fuel, is made from soybean oil, vegetable oil, or animal fats and is one of the only renewable fuels in use. It is currently the only alternative fuel to meet the rigorous EPA Tier 1 Health Effects testing under the 1990 Clean Air Act. Production and use of biodiesel releases only 20% of the carbon dioxide emissions and virtually none of the sulfur dioxide of petroleum-based diesel. Biodiesel can extend the life of diesel engines without affecting engine performance.
Biodiesel’s environmental benefits include: significant reduction of greenhouse gas and cancer-causing PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) emissions. Sulfur emissions are nearly eliminated. It meets clean diesel standards established by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). It is the first and only alternative fuel to meet the EPA’s proposed requirements for 2006.
Enviroflame is a combustible hydrocarbon that is specially formulated for use in biodiesel and its blends. Enviroflame reduces NOx emissions and is based on a formula that has been registered with the EPA. Test results can be found below.
